Attention Students- If you are interested in a summer program, come by the counseling office, We have a file full of all kinds of summer programs you can look through to keep you busy this summer. Last night, Antonian Latin students competed for one of four seats on the Certamen team which will represent this region at state. Cynthia Barrios and Joseph Cuellar took both of the grammar seats and Hermann Von Bertrab is the alternate for the Roman History and Culture seat. Congratulations to theses students and thank you to those other students who competed last night. Attention: Legend Team/City Heroes: if you will be participating in this Saturday's, Kingdom for Kids at DeZavala Elementary, please sign up in the front office with Mrs. Wagner. We will meet at Antonia at 9:15, then carpool to the school. Please bring in your $2.00 for our booth as soon as possible so that we can buy supplies. Please drop your money off in the front office. Thank you and we hope to see you there. The Boys Tennis team defeated TMI by 6-4. In a hard fought and exciting contest, Joseph Arriola and Antonio Perez staged an amazing comeback to win their doubles match. The Girls Tennis team played well, but lost a few close matches. Congratulations to all the players. March 4, 2003 Happy Birthday today to Tiffany Galvan, Bianca Rodriguez, and Phillip Waltho Congratulations to the Latin Club members who participated in the Area Convention. Antonian took 1st place for the second year in a row. There were 17 schools participating with over 800 students. Antonian scored 1136 points, winning 1st place in 18 events. Second place went to Northside Health Careers with 888 points. Thank you to all the students who participated. This was truly a group effort. We want to congratulate the Apache "Silver Dancers" who swept this weekend's Showmaker's competition. They received 1st place in their Pom, Ribbon and Jazz routines and received the Judges Award, Outstanding Showmanship, Best in Class and Best in Category for all 3 routines as well as the Line of Champions Award. Great job, Ladies - Keep up the good work! Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Golf Team, who again set new levels of excellence at the Seguin Tournament last Friday and Saturday. The Apaches were led by Andy Hrywnak, Evan Tupa, Kevin Crumrine, Larry Leathers and Danny Garza. Overall the Antonian team shot the lowest 36-hole total in the history of the golf program with a score of 650. Last Thursday the Girls Tennis Team defeated IWHS 6-5. Good work, girls. Last Friday the Boys and Girls tennis Teams participated in the Judson/Clemens Tournament. The teams were led by Joseph Arriola, Joey Atiee, Frenchie Caballero, Jessica Gamboa, and Katherine Morin who all won several rounds before rain interrupted play. Even though the team lost an exiting overtime mach to Bishop Lynch (2 to 3), the team finished the year with an impressive record of 23 wins and 4 losses and 3 ties. Good job guys we are proud of you! Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Basketball team for defeating Laredo St. Augustine 55-44. The win gives our boys a second place finish and play Saturday in a bi-district play off game. Bryan Parma les all scorers with 17 points, and Chris Garcia added 14 points. February 4, 2003 The Boys Varsity Soccer team will host the regional playoff game with Dallas Bishop Lynch this Saturday at 12:00 noon. February 3, 2003 Happy Birthday today to Brian Salinas Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Soccer Team for defeating the Southwest Dragons on Friday night 3-0. Joe Diaz, Jacob Foor, and Roland Ibarra each scored a goal in the Final regular season game to lead the Apaches. The team will take on Dallas Bishop Lynch in the regional playoff game to be played here @ Antonian. We are not sure about the date or time so stay tuned for an update. GO SOCCER!!! ON TO STATE!!! Congratulations to the Antonian Swim Team, they placed 10th overall at the state meet for Division I. The Boys' JV and Varsity Basketball Teams defeated M.M.A. and St. Josephs' Brownsville this past week-end. Way to go Apaches! The Girls JV also beat St. Josephs Brownsville but the Varsity lost in the closing seconds by 2 points. Despite the loss, the Varsity can win the District Championship on Wednesday against Laredo, St. Augustine. January 30, 2003 Happy Birthday to Nicole Overton Congratulations to the Lady Apaches Varsity soccer team for defeating Providence 6-0. Gigi Garces started the scoring off, followed by Isabel Casas with a goal from a superb cross by Brittany Spain. Isabel then scored two more goals followed by one each with Heather Cavazos and Alisha Schwab. Great job ladies! Their next game is tonight against St. Joe's Victoria at Antonian at 6:00. This is their last regular season game so come out and support the team. The Freshmen, JV, and Varsity girls basketball teams beat Victoria St. Joe's last night to maintain 1st place in district. The Freshmen and J.V. boys also beat Victoria St. Joseph's to keep first place as well. The Varsity boys played a tough game and lost in a nailbiter in overtime, but are still in the running for district honors. They defeated Providence 6-0, tied St. John's 0-0, defeated Bishop Dunne 1-0, defeated the John Cooper School 4-3 in a shootout and in the championship they defeated St. Mary's Hall 2-0. Goals were scored by Isabel Casas, Mari Nava, Renee Ferro, Bianca Trevino, Beth Melia and Brittany Spain. Congratulations to goalie Christina Mueller for putting a shut-out in all five games. Their next game is tonight at 6:30 against St. Mary's Hall at ACP. Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Soccer Team for bringing home two wins over the weekend. On Friday, the team defeated Holy Cross 3-0. Joe Diaz scored 2 goals and Roland Ibarra added an insurance goal to lead the Apaches. On Saturday Gabe Aguirre-Cox scored the first goal and John Poettgen added the clincher on a penalty kick with 5 minutes remaining as the team defeated TMI 2-1. The 2 victories raised the Apaches record to 5-0. With five games into the season, the team has give up only 1 goal. Keep up the good work!

Team participated in the County Cup Swim Meet held at Northside Aquatic Center
on Saturday. Needless to say the mighty Apaches continue to progress and get
better with each meet. Some highlights of this meet include Doug Howard dropping
time in both the 200 free and the 100 free. Matt Leos, Ben Oakley, Joshua Jobst
and Ben Guerra all improving with personal best times in the 50 freestyle. Josh,
Ben Guerra also improved in the 100 free. Joshua dropped an impressive six and a
half seconds in the 100 breaststroke. Not only did our girls finish 25-12 and were the district champions, not only did they finish as the regional champions and qualify for the state final four, not only did they make St. Michael's, the eventual state champion, work hard to get the victory, BUT our girls represented the Lord and our school very well on and off the court all season long.
