Discovery Channel Taps 9 San Antonio Students

Texas topped the nation in semifinalists for the Discovery Channel's annual Young Scientist Challenge, and nine San Antonio-area kids made the cut, according to an announcement.

Danielle Zapata and Samantha Gonzales,

who both attend St. Gregory the Great (Now Students at Antonian College Preparatory High School) are among the 40 Texas students named semifinalists of the Discovery Channel's annual Young Scientist Challenge.

Texas ranked first out of the 44 states competing in the challenge, which is in its ninth year. The challenge is designed to encourage the exploration of science.

This year, students will investigate climate change, global warming and eco-friendly initiatives such as recycling and green building design. Winners will be announced in October.

CONGRATULATIONS, WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!
