* Hear ye, Hear ye, Hear ye, Court is now in Session!  Kudos goes to Danielle Steele, Josh Sandoval, Joshua Avelar, Karissa Sanchez, and freshmen Candace Trevino, Steven Adrete, and Michael Skiles for their incredible performance this past Saturday at the 26th Annual Texas High School Mock Trial Competition.  Going into the tournament our Mock Trial Team had the odds stacked against them.  Antonian was the only private school in the tournament as they beat Alamo Heights, Southside, and Roosevelt.  It’s only misstep came in a very, very close first round against Reagan, who had 2 attorneys guiding them.  Our team just missed the final four as “previously-defeated Roosevelt was able to squeeze through by a mere ½ ballot on points.  What made the team’s efforts so truly noteworthy were that it had never competed in a Mock Trial before and it had three freshmen on the team.  But more importantly, the other schools had the tremendous advantage of having one or more attorneys to train them throughout their preparation process.  Most of the schools in the tournament began their preparation in August where our team only had 2½ weeks and only one attorney for just one hour during their brief time of preparation.  After the first round, against the 2-attorney assisted Reagan, the Buzz-Word was out; “Antonian was the underdog to watch as we had all of our opponents on their heels.”  Among the Giants, our team truly stood “Tall.”  Congratulations to our Mock Trial Team for a staggeringly impressive team effort.  This experience could not have been possible if it were not for the strong leadership of Team Captains Danielle Steele and Josh Sandoval.  We are so very proud of all of you!
