GENERAL INFORMATION STUDENT BODY Six hundred ninety-five students are are enrolled at Antonian College Preparatory High School. Each year Antonian admits 160 ninth grade students. The ethnic breakdown of the student body is as follows: 60 % Hispanic, 37% White and 03% declaring other cultural backgrounds. Approximately 20% of the students receive financial assistance from the school. Ninety-two percent of the student body is Catholic and 08% come from other faith traditions. Fifty-one percent of the student body is male and 49% is female. FACULTY Faculty brings a combination of professional experience and creativity to a strong academic program while modeling Christian values and a sense of community to the student body. There are 43 faculty members and all hold the necessary and appropriate credentials as prescribed by the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. DRESS CODE AND UNIFORM All Antonian students must adhere to a specific uniform that can be purchased at Parker Uniform. There is a variety of dress styles and type. Students must wear the prescribed dress uniform on Mass days and other special occasions. ACADEMIC PROGRAM AND SCHEDULING Antonian has a traditional program with a regular schedule. The format of the schedule is: seven classes a day, five times a week. The school follows a semester system and the program of study prepares the student for success in college. Programs are designed to meet the high standards of major universities in the United States GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
CLASS SIZE The targeted class size school-wide is 25 students per class. The student to teacher ratio is 16:1. HONORS STUDIES As a general rule, students scoring above the 90th percentile, are encouraged to take honors level classes that better challenge their intellectual abilities. ADVANCE PLACEMENT PROGRAM The advanced placement (A.P.)
program at Antonian offers a college/university level curriculum for high
school students. A.P. courses assess students by college/university level
standards. It is expected that students who sign up for A.P. courses will
be highly motivated and will make the A.P. course and exam a priority. The
2003 AP Results offered a 75% success rate.
Success in advanced placement courses allows students to earn college credits while attending Antonian College Preparatory High School. Students are also enrolled in Dual Credit Courses with Palo Alto College. CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM One hundred hours of Community Service are
required for graduation. In addition to this expectation, Antonian students provide over 20,000 hours of service to the community through their involvement in clubs and school activities. During the 2002-2003 school year students raised over thirty thousand dollars to assist various worthwhile projects: St. Gerard High School, St. Mary's School by the Riverwalk, The Honduras 16th Project, The African Goat Project and many more. During the 2005-2006 School Year students raised over $15,000.00 to assist children in Zambia through the Children in Need Foundation. CO-CURRICULAR PROGRAMS ATHLETICS
The Silver Dancers have won National Championships for the last five years. The Competition Cheerleaders have participated and been named National Champions also. In 2003 and 2004, the San Antonio Express News named Antonian’s Athletic Program number one among private schools in San Antonio. In 2005 the San Antonio Express News named Antonian the top Athletic Program among other Catholic Schools. There are many co-curricular activities in which a student can be involved. Antonian's desire is to educate the whole person, not solely intellectually, but in other ways as well. Some of the activities a student can be part of are listed below.
In addition to the clubs, there is the production of the yearbook, The Warrior, and the newspaper, The Smoke Signal. Both publications have won local, state and national awards. In 2006 the Antonian Latin team won the State Junior Classical League Regional and placed 3rd in Satte. In 2004 the Antonian Latin team won the State Junior Classical League State Championship in Latin. The Latin Club has won the Texas Latin Society Regional Championship in 2002 and 2003, place 3rd and 4th respectively at State competition and participated in the National Cartemen Championship. The Antonian Academic Team won the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools District Academic Competition in 2002 and 2003. ORGANIZATION AND GOVERNANCE Antonian College Preparatory High School is an Archdiocesan High School. It is one of two Archdiocesan schools in the Archdiocese of San Antonio Antonian is part of 40 year legacy of Catholic education, tradition and values in the Archdiocese of San Antonio. The School Council consists of nine individual four of which are elected and five are appointed. Administrative services provide for the well-being of the students as individuals and for the general welfare of the student body as set forth in the school’s mission statement. The annual combined financial contributions of the Parents Club and Boosters Club represent a significant contribution needed to subsidize improvements in the school and thereby help defray the rising costs of a quality Catholic education.
