ACP History

Discover Our Past

Antonian was officially dedicated on October 11, 1964. The school was founded by the De La Salle Christian Brothers with the support of the pastors from Blessed Sacrament, Holy Spirit, Our Lady of Grace, St. Ann, St. Gregory, St. John, St. Luke, St. Mary Magdalene, St. Paul, St. Peter, St. Pius, and St. Thomas More parishes.

In 1971, the Christian Brothers found they could no longer staff the school because of their previous commitments to other Christian Brothers schools, so Antonian became an Archdiocesan school. Originally a school for boys, Antonian transitioned to being a co-educational school beginning with the 1989-1990 school year.

Over A Decade Of Excellence

1999 & 2003: Antonian is presented with the U.S. Department of Education’s Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award.

2002 – 2004: Antonian earns first place at the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) district academic meet.

In 2002, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011, Antonian's Latin Club wins the Junior Classical League Area B championship.

2002 – 2010: Antonian’s athletic program is ranked #1 among all 6A private schools in San Antonio by the San Antonio Express-News. With the exception of 2005, Antonian was named the top athletic program in San Antonio among ALL private schools, no matter the size. In 2005, it was still #1 among the larger--at the time what was known as 6A, but is now 5A—private schools.

In 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2010-2011, Antonian is recognized by The National Catholic High School Honor Roll as one of the Top 50 Catholic High Schools in the United States. The Honor Roll also named Antonian a category leader in Civic Education for 2004, in Catholic Identity for 2005, and in Academics for 2006.

2004: Antonian's Latin Club are the Junior Classical League state champions

Antonian is named a semi-finalist in the Intel/Scholastic Twenty-First Century Schools of Distinction awards program.

2006: Antonian wins first place at the TAPPS district art meet.

Scholarship totals earned by the Class of 2011 is over $14 million dollars.
