Animoto for Education provides an array of tools for creating videos in your classroom. Mix relevant messaging, statistics and quotes among your pictures and videos. Animoto makes it easy to share your videos via e-mail, on a blog/website, exported to YouTube, or downloaded to a computer for use in presentations.

Vuvox [ view-vox ] is an easy to use production and instant sharing service that allows you to mix, create and blend your personal media – video, photos and music into rich personal expressions.

Voki is a free service that allows you to create personalized speaking avatars and use them on your blog, profile, and in email messages.

Prezi allows you to create a powerful presentation that is very different from PowerPoint. All you need to do is write, zoom and arrange to make a dynamic presentation. There are several tutorials on this site to help you make a Prezi.

Bubbl.us is a great free mind mapping tool. It will help your students organize their thoughts to complete assignments. It is easy to use! When you create an account (free), you can share your mind map with others. Give it a try!

Wordle is a website where you or your students can make “word clouds”.
It is a fun addition to any of the presentation programs like PowerPoint, Prezi, Animoto, etc. The more a word is used the larger the font type on the Wordle. The image on the right is an example of a "Word Cloud".

Social Bookmarking/Collaborative Workspaces Sites:

Dropbox is a 2 GB e-vault tool that allows teachers to drop files in an online folder and sync it with multiple computers. For example, I might create a file on my MacBook at school, move it into my Dropbox folder and then open it up on my Dell at home. No jump drives to lose or accidentally wash and no email files that are too large to send. Plus, as an added bonus, I can create collaborative folders in Dropbox to share with partner teachers.

EverNote lets you take note on any internet connect device, every computer that you use at home or at work, your phone, you mobile reader, etc. In short it works on any device that you can connect to the Internet. You can take notes about an event or project, you can take pictures to document that project or event, you can add a voice recording and you can keep your work private or share it with others. The ultimate is organizing digital material! Great for students too!

Google Docs create and share your work online. Upload your files from your desktop - it is easy to get started and it is free. Access your files anywhere from any computer or smart phone. Real time collaboration means work gets done more quickly.

Portaportal is a web based bookmarking utility that lets you store links to your favorite websites online. Upgrade to a pro account and get the ability to upload files for your students to download and use ($15 per year).

Delicious or Diigo are online bookmarking networks teachers need. Inevitably a wonderful link is shared with us that we think, “Oh, I know I’ll use that later” and then we forget what it was. Using one of these resources lets teachers save bookmarks in a webspace and allows networking.

Zamzar and MediaConverter for file conversions and Youtube downloads. Yes, there are always moments in the year where students turn in Microsoft Works or Word Perfect files that simply do not open nicely on a school computer. Zamzar will convert those files on top of downloading YouTube videos.
