Steps for Freshman Admission
Step 1: Get to know us
Antonian offers a variety of ways to get to know the school:
Admissions materials are updated every year and mailed to the families of candidates in early October of the candidate’s 8th-grade year. There is a lot of important information as well as pertinent dates contained in these mailings.
The Catholic School Office of the Archdiocese of San Antonio provides a database to all Catholic high schools that contain current 8th-grade student contact information. For students not attending an Archdiocesan school, please contact our Director of Admissions, Lisa Rosenfeld, at firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the mailing list.
The best way to learn about Antonian is to visit the campus. Parents are welcome and strongly encouraged to accompany their son(s)/daughter(s) during these visits. Individual family tours are available and can be scheduled through our Director of Admissions, Lisa Rosenfeld, at email@example.com.
Class of 2025 Parent/Student Information Forum
Each year, Antonian holds a Parent/Student Information Forum for prospective families, which includes clubs and organizations fair and a presentation by the administration as well as an opportunity for questions and answers.
If you missed both of the Parent/Student Information Forums (10/28 and 11/11), we invite you to schedule a personal tour with the Director of Admissions, Lisa Rosenfeld.
Optional High School Placement Test: Saturday, November 14, 2020
Antonian College Preparatory High School will be hosting an optional practice High School Placement Test (HSPT) for all 8th-grade students. The test will be administered on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at 9:00 a.m. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m.
Step 3: Take the High School Placement Test (HSPT) at Antonian
All candidates seeking admission should take the High School Placement Test (HSPT). Candidates who submit a completed application for admission will be automatically registered to take the HSPT at Antonian. By agreement of the principals of all Catholic high schools in the Archdiocese of San Antonio, candidates are encouraged to test at the high school of their first choice but are also able to send their HSPT scores to two additional high schools. Due to the expected number of students seeking admission into Antonian, we cannot assure admission to students who do not test at Antonian.
Please note, Antonian offers HSPT merit scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $2,000 to all candidates who score in the 90th percentile or higher on the High School Placement Test. This HSPT scholarship is renewable annually as long as the student remains at the top of his/her class and maintains a clean disciplinary record.
Testing at Antonian:
Students who did not test at their Catholic middle school on Friday, December 11th, at Antonian on Saturday, December 12th, or Saturday, January 9th and are seeking admission to Antonian must register to take the HSPT on the alternate date. Please click the following link to register.
Date: Saturday, February 6, 2021
Doors open at 8:30 a.m.
Test begins at 9:00 a.m.
Please contact the Director of Admissions, Lisa Rosenfeld, at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
Step 4: Requesting of Middle School Student Records
The Director of Admissions, Lisa Rosenfeld will request student records (6th-8th grade) and letters of recommendation directly from the middle schools.
Step 5: Be interviewed by Antonian staff
All candidates seeking admission will be interviewed by a member of the Antonian staff. Interviews are scheduled by the Director of Admissions upon receipt of a completed application for admission and after the completion of the High School Placement Test. Interviews are generally brief (10 to 15 minutes) and are a means of gaining more information about the candidate.
Class of 2025 applicant interviews will be scheduled for January 11, 12, 13, 19, 20, and 21, 2021.
Please note, a link will be sent to those families with an application on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, for families to schedule a time to interview that is most convenient for you.
Step 6: Receive a decision letter
All candidates seeking admission should take the High School Placement Test (HSPT). All candidates who have submitted a complete application for admission, have taken the HSPT, have participated in an interview, and for whom Antonian is able to receive transcript materials from his/her respective middle school, will be sent a decision letter by mail. These letters are mailed on Friday, February 12, 2021 (tentatively). Candidates who receive an affirmative decision are asked to complete enrollment paperwork by Monday, March 1, 2021. Antonian will continue to accept applications for the 2021-2022 school year beyond the first round of decisions.
